I WASTED YEARS
IN PINK
To be honest
I’m glad it’s all over
That it no longer matters anymore
Don’t miss the crack
The whirling throes
Or the thud of me on a hard, sprung floor
All the years of primping narcissism
Of trying to be a swan
Those years of pink and lilac-white
I lived my life all wrong.
The attitude I cultivated
Pushed me to the brink
Confusing powder with stardust
And fairy shakes
I wasted years in pink
So I sit
And I stare through my window glass
And look darkly at my past
At the years of pink and lilac-white
I knew could never last
A new generation is here now
A new species of gazelle
Clear empty eyes and perfect limbs
I wish they’d go to Hell
The attitude I cultivated
Pushed me to the brink
Confusing powder with stardust
And fairy shakes
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
I wasted years in pink
